Description

UPDATE 12/18/2018: This reference sheet is old and rather outdated with it's information. If you would like the updated information and reference, please see this deviation! fav.me/dcuo61p

Update 10/31/2017: Added a shorter version of her background rather than just having the link to her full background. Also edited her bounties a bit since I originally copied them wrong.

Holy moly, it's finally done. Took a heck of a while to set everything straight, but it's finally finished! Now, onto the bio.

Name: Ciebelo Tela

  • Japanese Pronunciation: シベロ ・テラ (Shibero Tera)

  • Puns: Her puns are alcoholic based and music based. Musical from her birth parents and alcoholic from her adoptive parents
    • Ciebelo - based off of Raicilla, an alcoholic beverage made from agave juice;
      • [Ciebelo - Rashira and Agabe]
    • Tela - based off legato, a musical term to designate a section/composition be played smoothly

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Birthday: October 27

Height: 5’11” (Pre-timeskip); 6’3” (Post-timeskip)

Race: Human

Origin: Syreneka Island, an Autumn Island in the West Blue

  • Because of her light skin, hair and eye colors, many believe she comes from a Winter Island.

Eye Color: Light green

Hair Color: Light Blue

Skin Color: Light peach

Devil Fruit (Y/N): Yes

  • If yes, then: Ink-Ink Fruit

    • Type: Logia

    • Meaning: Ink

    • Japanese Pronunciation: インク - インクの実 (Inku-Inku no Mi)

    • Abilities:

      • Poison Flesh: Tela can allow ink to stay under her skin so that if anyone makes contact with the ink in that spot, they run the risk of getting ink poisoning. She can also brush the inked skin along an open wound to poison her opponent.

        • Because of her Devil Fruit not being poison-based (like Magellan’s), the only way someone can be poisoned by her ink is if it’s ingested in a fairly large quantity. A fair amount can leave her foe nauseous and disorientated while a small amount will do little damage.
        • She can also use this technique by kissing someone in order to poison them, but it can be extremely risky to do it this way so she will only use this technique when her opponent is unsuspecting and she knows they won't attack her.
      • Ink-Ink Division: Since Tela is an Ink Human because of her fruit, she can divide herself into smaller duplicates of herself if need be. This usually occurs when she takes a bad hit and needs to escape/get away and rework a plan. She also can make a tiny ink duplicate for gaining information.

      • Ink Abyss: Tela can take all the ink within her and morph into a beast-like form. She can cause massive amounts of damage and can even try to drown people in ink if she feels the need to. *See Weaknesses for the downside to this ability.*

      • Black Puddle: By transforming into ink, she can become a puddle of ink which can be used to hide, sneak around, or get into hard-to-reach areas.

      • Ink Rainbow: Never explicitly named. Tela can change the color of her ink from the default black color. She can do so by placing her left hand on the center of her chest and calling out a color.
  • Strengths:

    • The ink is not water soluble, so she doesn’t run any risk of falling apart.

    • If applied correctly, Tela can use her ink for other applications (binding stuff, etc.) without it posing a risk of ink poisoning (or at least, a very low risk).

    • She is able to sneak around easily by turning into a ink puddle.

  • Weaknesses:

    • Shared weakness to water and seastone like any other Devil Fruit user.

    • Despite being already susceptible to water as a Devil Fruit user, her ink can become diluted if there is enough water. It can thin the ink and keep it from binding correctly which can be problematic in situations where a thicker ink is needed.

    • In regards to her monster form, she can only be in that form for a small amount of time due to the thick ink surrounding her becoming very heavy on her body, slowing her down. Even if she manages to deal with that, the ink’s weight will slowly start to suffocate her if she’s not careful.

Pirate/Marine/etc. ?: Pirate

Role: Captain of the Inkwell Pirates

Epithet: ‘Ink Abyss’

Dream: To experience the world for herself and see what’s real and what’s legend (Primary); Finding the One Piece (Secondary)

  • “Listen, I was raised by my parents until my father was killed by Marines. Shortly after that, I was separated from my mother and lost her too. For eight years, I was raised by Underworld brokers and I would always hear about events from all the Blues and both halves of the Grand Line. However, just hearing about that stuff wasn’t enough for me; I want to experience that stuff and see for myself what’s real and what’s just hearsay. And hey, if that includes having a chance to see if the One Piece actually exists, why not chase that as well?”

Bounty:

Before entering the New World
    • First Bounty: 20,000,000 Beri
    • Second Bounty: 53,000,000 Beri
    • Third Bounty: 89,000,000 Beri
After entering the New World
    • Fourth Bounty: 126,000,000 Beri
    • Current Bounty: 245,000,000 Beri

Choice of Weapon (if any): Fauchard, but is used if she can't use her Devil Fruit powers.

Family:

  • Coda (Father - deceased)
    • Pun: Coda (the closing section of a musical movement)
  • Libret (Mother - believed to be dead; actually with Revolutionary Army)
    • Pun: Libretto (a book of text containing the words of an opera)
  • Ciebelo Zinfe (‘Adoptive’ Mother - Underworld broker of illegal goods and supplies)
    • Pun: Zinfadel wine
  • Ciebelo Eislin (‘Adoptive’ Father - Underworld broker of illegal goods and supplies)
    • Pun: Mix of German term for ice wine (eiswien) and a type of ice wine (Riesling)

Personality: Tela is rather carefree when it comes to the world around her, but that by no means she’s completely careless. Rather, she allows some aspects to come and go as they will because sometimes, it will turn out better for her if she goes with the flow. She has a rather caring side, preferring to see her crew as a second family as it helps her to keep a motive to stay strong amongst pirates. Tela will commonly do her best to help her crew stay upbeat even in the worst moments. She’s rather carefree with her crew as well, but when the time comes for her to step up to her captain duties, she stays two steps ahead of the game.

It should be noted, however, that Tela can have a horrible temper when seeing something that strikes a nerve with her. She can easily keep in check and keep herself from exploding, but she occasionally comes across situations when she simply doesn’t care to reign her temper in. More often than not, this usually happens when going up against Marines. Once she loses her temper in battle, Tela will go all out with her Devil Fruit abilities and do whatever she can to defeat her enemies; even if it means that she inevitably tries to drown her foes in ink.

Tela can also be quite deceptive and have a silver tongue at times. These traits were picked up from her adoptive parents after watching them go through Underworld business transactions a multitude of times before she had left. She can barter and be extremely reasonable when trying to make deals, but she will become deceptive if she feels the need to keep the conversation going. Despite these traits, Tela is usually quite honest about her needs and wants for something when asked about it.

Background:

Child
Tela was born on Syreneka Island in the West Blue where she lived with her parents, mainly watching as sailors and pirates alike would come and gather supplies. When she was six years old, a band of Marines following Absolute Justice came to Syreneka, claiming that any and everyone who assisted the visiting pirates in any form were considered ‘pirates’ as well and were killed. Tela’s father gave his wife and daughter a chance to escape as he planned to join them later, but he too would end up dead among other by the hands of the Marines; a scene that Tela herself witnessed as she and her mother departed from their home island.

Before the ship could reach its destination within the Grand Line, it landed on another island to gather supplies; Tresma. Tela and her mother, Libret, had both stepped off the boat for some fresh air before they intended to board again to reach their new home. However, due to being emotionally broken at seeing her father’s death, Tela had wandered far into the forest within Tresma, only coming out of her stupor when she saw the moon high in the sky. Hurrying back in hopes of reuniting with her mother, Tela was stopped by a stranger, warning her that it was’ much too dangerous for children to be outside at night’ and offered to take her in for the night. Come morning, Tela found the boat had left the previous day and was now long gone, leaving her alone. Feeling pity for the child, the woman introduced herself as Zinfe and unofficially adopted the child as her own. Soon after being taken in, Tela learned that Zinfe and her husband, Eislin, were Underworld brokers and would decide to help them with their jobs however she could as gratitude for them adopting her.

Two years later during a treasure hunt with some of her new friends she made on Tresma, Tela fell into the underground caves throughout the island with no way of escaping on her own, leaving her to wander the caves until someone saved her. Having taken rough injuries during her fall, Tela was short on energy as she scavenged for food which mostly consisted of Dragon Fruits. As she did her best to stay awake fearing that she might die from the chilly air paired with small tides rolling into the caves, the eight-year-old never realized one the fruits she had collected was a Devil Fruit and ate it, forcing herself to ignore the horrid taste. The next day, she was rescued by her adoptive parents and taken back home. Once the two brokers discovered Tela had eaten the Ink-Ink fruit, they did their best to teach her how to fight and defend herself.

Teenager
At the age of fourteen, Tela would leave Tresma to become a pirate and see what the world had in store for her; a dream she had ultimately decided on two years prior. With what she had experienced up to that point in her life, she had chosen to take matters into her own hands and gain her own experiences from what was out in the world rather than just living peacefully and having people inform her of everything. The young captain traveled through the West Blue gathering both supplies and essential crew members that she would need before venturing into the Grand Line. Once she had gained a first mate, navigator, cook, forecaster, and helmsman, Tela’s small ragtag group became known as the Inkwell Pirates as they made their way through Reverse Mountain and into the Grand Line.

After entering the Grand Line, Tela gathered a few more members and they had come to a decision on their adventure. Despite the small crew having their own dreams, they had overheard other pirates talking about the One Piece; an item that the Inkwell Pirates themselves wondered if it was true or not. After discussion among themselves, Tela decided that their was only one way to see if the treasure existed and that was to try and find it themselves. She figured that even if they weren't the ones to find it in the end, there would certainly be stories to tell after everything was said and done. The next five years would be spent travelling through the Grand Line (their namesake and bounties becoming more well known in the process) before entering the New World.

Adult
Tela and her crew would soon come across an uninhabited island to make as their hideout in the New World which would allow them safety and refuge when necessary. Spending the next four years sailing through the New World, Tela and her crew started to become more known than when they first arrived, doing what they could to try and find clues towards finding the One Piece. However, during one of their searches, the Inkwell captain would finds news of a particular crew from the East Blue making quite the ruckus in the Grand Line. At this point, Tela found her interest being drawn towards the particular group known as the ‘Worst Generation,’ knowing that the rookies would be causing an uproar in the future. Even though they would keep heading towards their dreams and taking down anyone who tried to put them down, the 23-year-old captain would find herself rooting for some of the Super Rookies as well; her excitement and curiosity being piqued at what adventures they would bring. That being said, she wasn't about to let them win easily if they crossed her path. Knowing what lay ahead for her and her crew, Tela became determined to make their name known and to the adventure of a lifetime.

Extra:
  • She hadn’t originally used her Poison Flesh ability much in battle, but at one point, she started facing foes who would bite her in battle, so she uses it as a form of protection; mainly around her neck.
  • Despite not being too much of a violent pirate, she does have a bone to pick with the Marines, so if even one tries to pick a fight with her, she’ll go at it. That’s the main way she’s gathered a bounty.
  • Tela commonly calls others by either their last name or epithet out of ease. If she manages to call someone by their first name, it means she worked hard enough to memorize their name.
  • The coat belonged to her father that he gave to her before his death. She stuffed it in her bag before she and her mother left the island.
  • Tela never liked the Marines to begin with, but she thinks they got even worse once Akainu took over as Fleet Admiral. In addition to this, her hatred towards the Marines becomes extreme when she encounters those who follow 'Absolute Justice.' There are some Marines that she doesn't hold extreme hatred towards, however.
    • This exception applies to the Marines that are actually somewhat sympathetic and hold some of the World Government’s acts in disdain (e.x. Fujitora and others like him for example).
  • She has an interest in playing billiards and painting with ink.
    • The interest with painting stems from her adoptive parents trying to give her ways to learn how to get used to using her abilities in the beginning before learning how to fight with them.
  • She also has an unconscious interest in genealogy that she eventually becomes more conscious of as she gets older.
    • She gains the interest unconsciously around 13-14 and becomes fully aware of it a year before the post-timeskip events start.
  • Out of the Eleven Supernovas, Bege is one of the Worst Gen. that frightens her of most since he’s one of the heads of the Five Families of the West associated with the Underworld. She would always hear Zinfe and Eislin talk about them, so she knows to stay well away from him.
  • She has equipment to view Underworld activities back at the crew’s hideout in the New World. Zinfe and Eislin managed to pull some strings to get the equipment for Tela.
  • Back when she was still learning how to get the hang of her Ink-Ink abilities, Tela started making her own ink to get a better idea of how it worked. It’s evolved into a common hobby for her to make ink when she has lot of free time to do so.
  • At some point of time during her time in the New World, someone would somehow find out Tela was raised by Underworld brokers and assume she has connections to the organization as well, causing her bounty to rise significantly.
